A limited number of graduate assistantships are available to qualified students. Graduate assistants (GAs) receive a tuition waiver but are responsible for fees.

How to Apply

You must be officially admitted to your program to qualify for an assistantship.

Follow these steps to apply for an assistantship in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education (KNPE):

  1. Send your resume to Pete Chomentowski at pchomentowski@niu.edu. It should outline your qualifications for an assistantship.
  2. Complete a graduate assistant application (PDF).

Priority Consideration Deadline

Students admitted to a KNPE graduate program who have submitted a resume by March 15 will receive priority consideration.
